Rest In Peace, Charlie Kirk

This isn't news by any means. No matter what people's political views are, we've all heard about the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk. My coworkers and I talked about it, and while having differing beliefs, we were open, didn't judge or criticize each other, because we could all agree on the big thing: If you are celebrating the murder of someone you didn't agree with, you are a horrible person. I then learned that one coworker thought the whole thing was fake until I showed him the video, and his mouth fell open, and he realized the video a friend sent him was edited to look like nothing happened. I felt a little bad for showing him the real and raw footage of a man in his early 30s being shot in the neck and blood gushing out, but at the same time, all I did was share the truth of what happened.
Here's the thing: I never watched his videos until after he passed. I'm always on the fence about watching conservative political debates or speeches because I've seen my fair share of ones where the people are too aggressive about it, and it's an instant turn-off for me because it's like watching someone throw gasoline onto a raging bonfire.
In all the videos that I have seen, the ones that stood out to me most have been the ones where he shows sympathy and compassion towards those with a different view, especially to the ones who show him respect, because he, in turn, speaks to them with respect. He recognizes that they are more than their political beliefs and tries to get to know them as a person to help them understand his views. Granted, not all of the people he debates are as courteous as others; a good few are filled with such hate that it blinds them from hearing any other view except their own. He still tries with them, and if that doesn't work, a subtle (or not so subtle) roast for a little light-hearted fun was the next approach.
Out of all his videos, the one that pulled at my heartstrings the most was one his wife posted on Father's Day (https://www.instagram.com/reel/DK8Gv3OS3gz/). The family was on an outing, and he told his toddler daughter she had to be good if she wanted a baby doll. In the end, he gets her the doll, and it's just a sweet moment of a loving father with his daughter. Seeing his smile as he's with his family, a little girl holding her baby doll in one hand and her daddy's hand in the other, and his wife behind the camera telling him she loved him. It made me really think about how that little girl wouldn't get to hold her daddy's hand again, that little boy wouldn't get to look into his daddy's eyes again, and that poor devoted wife, Erika, wouldn't get to kiss her husband good night or good morning. The holiday season is around the corner, and this poor family will have to manage their grief during what should be the happiest time of the year. Anyone who has lost a loved one can attest to how hard that is.
Just thinking about it brings me to tears because no family should ever have to go through such a terrible thing! This man was truly a disciple and preached the word of God everywhere, and even ridicule and hatred didn't stop him from speaking the truth. In a world full of Pathological People Pleasers (myself included), he made it his goal to please no one but God.
I pray that his family might find peace and hope during this tragic time.
